Munoz To Make Middleweight Debut Against Catone at UFC 102
Mark Munoz will drop down from light heavyweight to make his middleweight debut against Nick Catone at UFC 102 on August 29th in Portland, Oregon.
MMAjunkie today confirmed the matchup, which has been verbally agreed upon by both fighters, though bout agreements are still pending.
A former WEC fighter, Munoz (5-1) made his UFC debut last month at UFC 96, suffering a highlight-reel head kick knockout to Matt Hamill.
Catone (7-1) was twice-scheduled to fight Amir Sadollah in his UFC debut but the bout was scratched both times due to injuries suffered by his opponent. Instead, he debuted with the promotion in February with a second-round submission of Derek Downey at UFC Fight Night 17. He returned to action earlier this month at UFC Fight Night 18, but suffered the first loss of his career to Tim Credeur.
UFC 102, which has yet to be officially announced, is rumored to he headlined by Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and is also expected to include Matt Hamill vs. Brandon Vera, Chris Leben vs. Jake Rosholt, and Junior dos Santos vs. Justin McCully.

Maybe Munoz won’t end up on the wrong end of a highlight this time.
Hope not, I like Munoz, but he got caught bad!
I actually like Munoz alot too, I seen him fight live and he is always good natured and quite polite, ofcourse til that cage door locks, Hamill did Cro Cop the F out of the kid and if he thinks that he needs to cut to the MW hopefully he can find succcess in the division…. I wonder how the cut will effect him and when he will be at 185, I saw James Irvin on the 11th and he was already at 185 easy and looked comfortable at that weight, he just looked unhappy for some reason, anyways should be interesting….

I actually think this is a good move he wrestled at 197 his junior and senior years and 184 before that so it may be the best move for him there.
