Mark Hunt Seeks Chance To Avenge Loss To Alistair Overeem

Back in 2008 while competing for Dream, Mark hunt suffered a first round submission loss to Alistair Overeem.

Since that time, Hunt has strung together a solid 4-1-1 record with the UFC, including a draw vs. Antonio Silva back in December.

Now, Hunt is hoping for a chance to avenge his ’08 loss to Overeem inside the Octagon.

“I saw Alistair in Japan and we were talking,” said Hunt, during an interview with “He’s a nice guy, but as a fighter, he’s got it over me; I’ve got to get it over this guy.

“It’s a match I’d like to have. The outcome won’t be the same.”

Overeem is currently recovering from a rib injury he suffered in a win over Frank Mir earlier this year. He was placed in a match with Junior dos Santos, but turned it down due to the injury.

Hunt (9-8-1) was on the verge of a possible title shot after stringing together four consecutive wins from 2011-13. However, last May he was defeated by dos Santos via knockout.

To close out the year, Hunt and Silva engaged in a five-round war that ended in a majority draw. However, after the fight, Silva failed his post-fight drug test. The draw ruling still remained on the record of Hunt.
