Hear What Ronda Rousey Has To Say About Sara McMann, Her Acting Career

Ronda Rousey doesn’t enjoy getting into the back-and-forth war of words before fights like she had with Miesha Tate.

Instead, Rousey told “UFC Tonight” she has preferred the build up for her UFC female bantamweight champion match with Sara McMann next Saturday night at UFC 170.

“It’s been nice,” Rousey said. “It’s more stressful having an opponent that you have to pay more media attention to. I’m glad there’s been less media stress this time.”

Rousey and McMann are both unbeaten, and both captured medals at Summer Olympic Games. Rousey won a bronze in judo, while McMann captured silver in wrestling.

“I’m really excited,” said Rousey, of facing a fellow Olympian. “She’s a high-level athlete. I always rise to the level of my opponent; it makes me better.”

Rousey and her team have broken McMann down on film, looking at her “pace and personality and her rhythm. She goes for takedowns at certain times. We try to predict in what situations she’ll try those.”

Along with working to promote her UFC career, Rousey’s name has been in the entertainment world quite a bit as of late regarding movie roles. She is expected to be part of two more upcoming projects, but doesn’t see it taking anything away from MMA.

“I’m extremely excited about those, but I’m in camp right now and I try not to even focus on those things,” she said. “‘Entourage’ will be filmed next and the other is at least a year away.

“There’s a big gap where I can fit some more fights in. I’m a fighter, not an actor. It’s cool to have another career to be excited about. That’s what happened after the Olympics. I didn’t have anything. You have a short shelf life in MMA and I don’t want to be done without options.”
